With the car in dock for some warranty work Fly Flatts was out of bounds and very little time for birding having to pick it up late p.m. though I was,nt too bothered in the conditions with blue skies and sunshine on a light SW>3.
Best I could do was a dog walk through Micklemoss fields to Old Guy Road and Roper Lane to see if I could see anything of the family of Whinchat reported there but nothing to be found in the reported area of Old Guy Road although I have had Whinchat here a few years ago.
The cricket field held 3 Common gulls and 2 Lapwing as well as a single Skylark and 2 juv Pied Wagtails. Several small gulls were in the adjacent fields whilst 2 Mistle Thrush were on wires by Roper farm.
The Redstart trees below Roper Lane had a juv Stonechat but no sign of Redstart or Spotted Flycatcher whilst a Little Owl was on a distant wall towards Bradshaw pond.
The cars back in action now ready for tomorrow although the bus ride home yesterday and to Halifax today to pick it up was a bit of an experience.
When the driver told me £3.00 Halifax to Queensbury I said " eck, thats gone up a bit ". Mind you, the last bus I rode on you got on at the back and it had a conductor shouting Fares Please ! Watching people getting on was interesting , seems like I was the only one that paid with money, everyone either held passes up, swiped cards or even paid with mobile phones. My old Dad, who drove for Bradford City Transport most of his life, would turn in his grave.
