Fly Flatts, oh well, theres always tomorrow.

Amazing tonight at Fly Flatts with all that shoreline and perfect weather conditions, 100% cloud cover, good visibility on a light NE>3 , that there was,nt a single wader present despite a thorough scope of all the shorelines and ponds.
The Teal count was back to 7 with just 2 LBB gulls and 4 BH gulls along with 2 Tufted, 12 Mallard and the remaining 12 Canada geese.
Thirty minutes sky watch produced 23 Black Headed gulls >NE, 2 Herring gull >SW , 6 Kestrel and a group of 23 Meadow Pipits in migration mode >W.
The dreaded heat shimmer had gone tonight but there was nothing to photograph so it did,nt really matter.
A nice find today for Dave Franz of an Arctic Tern at Ringstone, a bird I keep expecting to pass through Fly Flatts but it has,nt happened yet. See Calderbirds blog for some cracking photos of the bird taken by John Marsh and Dave Franz
