Fly Flatts buzzing .

Plenty Mallard coming out of eclipse on the Spit.
LBB gulls coming and going throughout.

2 LBBs and a Grebes neck.
Very rare bird for Fly Flatts, 2 juv Gt Crested Grebe.
Just over 10 years since my last here.

Passing Buzzard with tonights tea, Weasel.

                Very distant juv Ringed Plover
White supercillium clinched it from Little Ringed Plover.

At last some decent movement weather which really shook things up. Light drizzle with 80 % cloud cover and a cool strong WNW>6 at 25.5 m.p.h.
The skies were active tonight with several Mipits all >NW along with 1 Skylark and 2 Reed Buntings whilst LBB gulls were coming and going throughout the watch, several stopping briefly on the water.
16 Mallard were on the spit, several coming out of eclipse, whilst 13 Teal stuck to the north end.
DJSs Gt Crested Grebes from this morning took some spotting with the high swell of the water hiding them but eventually caught up to the 2 juveniles. I thought this was a new species for me here but looking back at records I had a single juv just over 10 years ago.
A final scan at the north shore luckily picked up a single small Plover
coming out of the ravine  but impossible to keep the scope steady to decide between juv Ringed or Little Ringed. Laying flat on the banking with the tripod at its lowest point Bertha snapped away and a white supercillium and no orbital ring clinched it on juv Ringed Plover.
Walking back on the west bank a Buzzard came overhead with a Weasel
dangling from its talons finishing the day of nicely, though not for the Weasel. It always amazes me how quiet it is at this location in still, sunny weather yet bursts into life as soon as the weather worsens.
Apologies for the grapeviners that got my text several times , as pointed out by DJS, but its a poor signal at Fly Flatts so it kept saying text failed . I kept re trying  to send it and then it must have decided to send the lot but at least you,re getting you fivers worth.
