Fly Flatts, the amazing SE corner.
Water is usually up to the grass in the foreground.
Bring on the waders.
Just when you thought it was all over back came the blue skies and hot sunshine. With temperatures back to 24 degrees and a light SE >3 the sky was empty other than a few LBB gulls over >NE and just the one Black Headed on the water.
On the encouraging side, other than the two pair of breeding Common Sandpipers with 3 young, another 7 Common Sands had arrived in the NW corner new in from yesterday showing some signs of movement beginning.
No Wheatears as yet which is not surprising in this weather making them reluctant to move and no sighting of Dunlin today.
A single Kestrel was over the moor and a Sparrowhawk was soaring in the distance over Nab Water Lane.
Several Swallows and Swifts were moving >NE over Nolstar along with LBB and BH gulls.
Strange how eerily quiet the moors are with the Curlews, Golden Plover and Lapwings moved on leaving just the sound of the Canada geese with their young.
Not a good forecast for tomorrow with more heat and less wind but I,ll muddle on regardless knocking the days off to better times.
