A new week at Fly Flatts

2 families of Pied Wagtails still present.
               A late Common Sandpiper juv.
                                    Parent bird
                                                   a second juv.

1515 hrs at Fly Flatts with another 24 deg session with broken cloud and a half decent SW>3-4.
One of the quietest sessions for some time but interesting to find that, since yesterday, all but 3 Common Sandpipers have left including little scrag neck who Ive been watching since he was a small chick and seen him grow into full plumage and slowly start to fly a few yards getting better each day until he could keep up with the parent birds flying over the water.
I hope he has a safe journey south and returns safe to Fly Flatts next spring although I won,t recognize him if he does.
Theres just the one remaining adult now with 2 young, one not yet flying so they will be here a few weeks yet. It seemed strange tonight without the Common Sands flying around and calling.
Otherwise there was just 2 Kestrels over the west banking, 2 pair of Pied Wagtails with 3 juvs and the usual geese whilst there was just a single juv Black Headed which has been here 3 days now.
This is the latest that  Ive ever had to wait for returning juv Wheatear at this location which is possibly due to this high pressure weather holding them back with plenty food available.
Apart from the 3 Common Sandpipers and the geese I,ve a clean sheet at Fly Flatts now so its wait and see what the next contenders are, hopefully an influx of waders.
