Unfortunately, the trough, forecast from the east, bringing low cloud and rain never materialized until mid afternoon so the expected fall of migrants never happened, or not at Leeshaw at least.
The morning was dry and bright with clear sky and sunshine starting to cloud over by the end of the watch. The temperature was down at 4 degrees feeling colder in the moderate NE>4 despite the sunshine.
Just an average day at Leeshaw with no continuation of yesterdays heavy move of Black Headed gulls and the only gull sighting being a single LBB over >W.
Swallows were the bird of the morning with a continuous steady flow throughout all >NE whilst 2 Linnet were the first of the year for me with none arrived on the tops at Fly Flatts as yet.
The long staying Gt Crested Grebe is still on the water but nothing else other than Greylag, Canada and Mallard whilst Oystercatcher, Redshank, Lapwing and Curlew were plentiful, but looking bad for the annual Little Ringed Plovers with not an ounce of shore showing.
Not the best of forecast for morning with only slight rain early morning and the very light wind turning from east to west then south west but hopefully a wader of two may have dropped in overnight, as long as the dreaded fog, which is thick this evening, lifts in good time in the morning but not looking good.
