More fog and checking out the gulls.

Another day of low cloud base, rolling fog patches and drizzle on a very light SW>1.
Fly Flatts was well fogged off so Leeshaw was my next best bet which was just below the cloud base with visibility across the water but nothing skyward.
Big gulls are very slow getting established this autumn with usually Herring and Yellow Legged Herring at this site before now. Over 100 Black Headed gulls on the shore but only 9 LBBs and no Commons. A group of 1st summer Herrings came onto the waters edge but soon left >W.
A group of 4 Heron together was unusual whilst several Lapwing were along the shoreline.
A flock of around 50 Swallows came in from the west feeding over the water before heading off >S.
Mid pm and a gull check at Doe Park found similar to yesterday with just Black Headeds and a couple of LBBs. Otherwise nothing special apart from a high soaring Buzzard and several Swallows feeding over the water.
With boredom setting in I headed for 10 Yards Lane to check the ploughed fields with just the same results, Black Headed gulls with just 2 Common and a single LBB. Where have all the big gulls and Commons got to.
No local goose reports today with just the one report from Nick Small stating masses of Mipits over Soil Hill heading in the unusual direction of >W.
