Denholme. Just when you thought it was gone, here it comes again.
Keeping very distant at the south end of the water and in the sun
Fly Flatts this morning was ,once again, drizzly with mist and the usual NE>3 at 12 degrees.
A very quiet watch with the low cloud base keeping things down and nothing moving skyward. The main feature was around 200 Meadow Pipits along the south shore and boatyard area looking like they are ready for a blast off any day now.
Otherwise 1 Wheatear, 1 f Tufted and 3 Stonechat plus the usual stuff.
Manchester reservoirs are experiencing a big move of wildfowl on their waters so the afternoon session comprised of checking some local waters. Nothing unusual found other than the 12 Tufted at Leeming but one hours watching at Denholme saw the return of the juv Osprey which we was thinking had moved on.
It was very camera shy today doing its fishing right in the sun at the opposite side of the reservoir from the dam wall and kept disappearing into the SE and SW bays out of sight where I left it.
Shortly after ,it was picked up by MP who had the advantage of seeing it mobbed by a Hobby, a bird I havent seen for many years.
