A busy morning at Fly Flatts, (permit only) and a very mobile Osprey at Denholme

FLY FLATTS                       5 very distant Teal

                                                   1st summer Reed Bunting.

                                           Sparrowhawk checking out the passerines

                                                   large female.

1 Greylag on water then >SE, moving bird.
1 Raven against sun angle, >NW

A very bright and still morning at Fly Flatts with a light NW>2 and full blue, sunny skies.
Mipits were coming over >S throughout the watch but very high and lost in the bright blue background so only a casual count performed due to plenty more species to sort through.
Best of the bunch was 2 Dunlin through very fast over the water and nearly missed as they appeared from nowhere. Several other movers but nothing special though enough to keep me on my toes.
Plenty passerines heading through the boatyard but as I approached to check through them a Sparrowhawk had the same idea but got in first. It went away with nothing but so did I.
A small group of Teal were way out on the water and a single Greylag goose which dropped in from very high NE before soon leaving >SE.
A pleasant morning to be out but badly need those grey skies and a nice westerly wind to liven things up.
An hour at Doe Park produced very little other than 2 Teal on the water as well as a few BH gulls plus the usual species.
The Osprey , now in its 4th week, is getting very mobile moving constantly between Doe Park and Hewenden but seeming to favour the latter.
It was present during the morning at Doe Park on and off then again at midday, leaving for Hewenden 15 minutes before I arrived at Doe Park. No further sightings whilst I was there but 3 text messages reporting it at Hewenden.
I received 9 text messages throughout the day about its whereabouts from one site or the other, possible this change in routine means it it getting ready for moving on. Thanks to all for the updates.
