Leeshaw a.m. and an afternoon with the Osprey.

                                          Leeshaw, 1 of 3 Buzzard.
Denholme                                  Osprey after a dip

All taken in bad light against sun angle.

A hectic morning at Leeshaw which was again below the cloud base with light drizzle on a NE>2 at 13 degrees.
A good sign of movement this morning with hirundines, Wagtails, Curlew and Buzzard as well as the first serious signs of Meadow Pipits flying just below and into the cloud base as well as some ground hopping.
The 3 Buzzard were high and direct as well as a single calling Curlew. Still a shortage of gulls with just a decent count of Black Headeds along with 3 LBBs.
Nothing in the way of moving waterfowl mid afternoon but the Osprey is still hanging on moving between Denholme and Hewenden reservoir where it seems to be spending more time at the latter lately. I saw it dive twice but came up with nothing before it moved off to Hewenden but a young lady birder from Haworth ,Sharon, saw and photographed it catch a fish before I arrived. A lifer for her so she went away well pleased.
Once again it was very poor for photos with grey bright cloud throwing everything into silhouette but an amazing experience to watch and possibly a once in a lifetime to see it fishing at close quarters. Good to meet MP up there, Mark first found the bird 10 days ago so its surprising that its stayed so long.
