  • A decent day at Fly Flatts with clear skies and just a few light drizzle showers. The wind started off strong this morning with a NW>5 blowing but eased as the day went on to a W>4. The water is well up now and still pouring in so it looks like the shoreline may just last until September if I,m lucky.
  • Plenty sky movement this morning with Meadow Pipits, Linnets and Swallows moving whilst 2 juv and 1 adult Ringed Plover were present with one juv in the SE corner near to the launch area whilst the other 2 were way over on the north shore.
  •                   A walk on the west bank to the NW corner found 2 juv gulls, one of which was sporting bright yellow legs being a Yellow Legged Herring gull, with what was possibly a second YL but remained seated and I could,nt get any i,d,able photos due to the heat distortion from the shore.
  •         Walking the west bank late afternoon the Herrings had gone and just 2 adult LBBs were present but as I started to walk back I suddenly found myself surrounded with a swarm of House Martins low over the water and banking slowly making their way >S along with a few Swallows,
  • 4 Swift and at least 5 Sand Martins. Several of the House Martins were young birds , an amazing experience to see.
