Wheatear were the saving grace of the day
At least 14 present along the east bank.- A real horror of a day with wall to wall fog from start to finish. There was a moderate NE>4 blowing which was blowing the fog through looking like smoke on a very low cloud base.
- Conditions were clear up as far as Nolstar but the fog persisted to hang over Fly Flatts , being the highest point. Late afternoon was only slightly better with visibility half way across the water.
- The only way to check the area today was to walk the south and west bank keeping the shoreline in close proximity checking along the waters edge. The same method along the east bank found a good fall of Wheatear, Pied Wagtails and Meadow Pipits all very lively darting about along the cobbled banking.
- A good scan of the NE corner failed to provide me with a wader whilst it was only possible to see the first half of the north shore due to the fog which just held a few LBB gulls.
- Back at the boatyard a single Willow Warbler was in the small tree checking out all the spiders webs along the fencing.
- The fog is rolling back in thick and fast up here in the gods tonight and with more easterlies forecast for the next few days it looks like its going to be more peering through the murk again tomorrow.
- At least I,ve got the columns straight now so I,ve just to find a way of doing it without the dots!
