Juv Willow Warbler
About 7 presentThe juvs are dazzling yellow.
1 of 6 Wheatear.
- Another morning of thick fog not clearing until 0945 hrs leaving dark and hazy skies on a NE>3.
- By the late afternoon watch the cloud base had lifted leaving it dull and hazy with some light drizzle.
- The pond area was alive with Mipits which left as the cloud base lifted late morning with the birds leaving >W as well as the only wader of the day when a Common Snipe flushed from the lagoon heading the same direction as the Mipits.
- Still a few Wheatear blogging whilst at least 7 Willow Warblers were present in the boatyard tree, the juvs standing out in their bright yellow plumage.
- Only a small count of gulls way over in the NW corner , one being a Yellow Legged Herring and no sign of the Caspian today, which failed to cause any form of interest locally.
- With work drawing to a close next week at Fly Flatts YW will once again be allocating permits for those interested and wanting to apply. The permit lasts for 12 months and allows access from the public right of way footpath at the north end along the west bank as far as the SW corner which is shown on a map provided with the permit.
- As usual, there are a few do's and don'ts with the permit, one being that a high vis vest must be worn whilst on site.
- I will be resuming laying Nyjer seed at the original Twite feeding station from now so if anyone does get down that way it will be appreciated if you wazz a handful of seed down as you pass
