Newcomer, 1 of 2 Ringed Plover
with Dunlin
Once again mega distant shots way over on the
NE banking
Overnight fall of Oystercatchers x 7
Fly Flatts early a.m. on a calm clear morning with 70 % cloud cover and some sun on a light N>3
All the usual Dunlin, Common Sandpipers and Redshanks were in the SE corner pools then a scope of the east and north bank reveled a single Whimbrel in with the gulls over in the far NE corner, probably DF/NCDs bird from last night. When I got to the north end of the boatyard to attempt a distant shot it was gone, not to be relocated but another scoping produced 2 Ringed Plover at the north end of the east shoreline and out of range other than a few record shots.
5 new in Oystercatchers were nearby along with the 2 resident birds making a good count for this location.
A Cuckoo was calling throughout from just down the valley near Dean Head.
Thats 13 species of wader at Fly Flatts so far this year.
