The ones that got away, wader type, possibly Redshank, bigger than Goldie
Very fast zig zag flight.
Mega height and distance, over the north end of the reservoir
Dense fog this morning so a quick look at Ogden with fog clearing to produce 6 Herring gull on the water along with 2 LBBs and 4f with 2 male Goosander.
Raggalds Flood on the way back held 2 Redshank and 4 Lapwing
A free afternoon and luckily the strengthened WSW>5 had moved the fog on leaving very dark fast moving clouds and odd patches of blue sky.
A walk the full length of the west bank found everything sheltering from the wind along the east and north banking with over 200 Canadas, 12 Mallard, 2 Redshank and 38 Lapwing but nothing in the skies.
Back on sky watch from the south shore thing were terribly quiet for nearly 1 hour but then at 1500 hrs it all kicked off with Curlews and Lapwings suddenly up and calling, geese back on the water and suddenly birds were everywhere.
At one point I had to decide which to go for with the camera between a Short Eared Owl on a post, a Buzzard hovering over the moor or 100 + Goldies doing aerial displays. Luckily I got all three. An amazing last hour to what started off as a boring afternoon.
