The wintry scene back at Queensbury.
Heavy snow falling as I got up this morning as well as fog but the snow not settling and soon brightening slightly so a dash to Leeshaw to check the water.
Leeshaw was fairly bright with light rain on a very light westerly so managed a decent hours birding before the mist started to fall and the snow coming down . As I started driving home a call from Lynda saying the snow was coming down with flakes like half crowns at Queensbury and the roads were getting bad.
Bird wise, gulls were active with around 50 Black Headed, 30 Commons and 12 LBBs with just one Herring gull through. A good count of 15 Oystercatchers along with 8 Curlew and plenty Lapwings mostly on territory.
The Starling flock was down to about 100 and at least 10 Meadow Pipits were among them.
Very few geese present and no target birds but a bonus getting out there on a day when I expected to be grounded. Westerly gales expected this afternoon which could make the job interesting if it keep snowing heavy.
