Fly Flatts a.m. visit

                                Distant Peregrine harassing the Goldies

                                         Around 40 Golden Plover

The tern perches are now back on the water.
This was number 8 buoy today
This was number 8 buoy 30/3/2018. Sandwich Tern.

Fly Flatts  0730-1030 hrs
Blustery W> 6 with early heavy snow showers which soon passed over . 40% cloud cover and sun.
A blasting wind walking the west bank but needed to top up the feeding areas after the heavy rain yesterday washed them clean. The reservoir in right to the top and breaching the south shore with water cascading down the overflow and beck.
An active morning bird wise with several Herring gulls back on the move heading >W whilst a few Meadow Pipits where coming in from the east.
A Peregrine made a couple of fly pasts spooking the Golden Plovers and Lapwings with a Snipe lifted up with them briefly.
Otherwise it was down to Curlews and Canada geese plus the usual Red Grouse.
Good to see the start of the boat season this morning although the jury was out whether to sail or not in the strong wind. I,m sure I would,nt want to go out on that water today but at least the buoys are back out ready for Terns in the next couple of weeks.
