Queensbury, Even the Tawny Owl,s taking shelter.

As good as it got with the Tawny
Dunnock in full song in the garden

Another bright sunny day with a cold NW>4 and again a steady thaw.
No sign of movement today so it was a quick visit to the Tawny Owl site at lunchtime but it wasnt coming out today for its picture taken, instead it was tucked well out of the cold wind in the centre of the tree.
On arrival I thought it must have moved on as strangely there were hardly any pellets in the area despite me not visiting for a while but after a lot of staring into the tree I finally located it well hidden.
It could possibly have moved roosts during the bad weather but at least its back now.
Only about half a dozen pellets now at the garage Andy which you can pick up or wait till I get some more next week. The pond in the area where it has been getting its frogs and oddly fish is well frozen over.
A tour tonight of all the nooks and crannies of Foxhill and Moorclose areas found no Waxwings, despite 2 reports via Queensburybirder of the flock still around this morning.
Not a bad forecast for the weekend and a change of wind direction so surely some one will pick up a Wheatear.
