Watching and waiting, Fly Flatts

                                    Meadow Pipits slowly returning

                                    15 Greylags new in.

Lots of squabbing with the Canadas

A beautiful morning up on the tops at Fly Flatts with full sun on a light NNE>2 at 1 degrees but feeling milder with the sun and lack of wind. Clouded over by 0945 hrs.
The cold wind is still keeping the birds at bay with no sign of the Redshanks or Ringed Plover and down to 2 Oystercatchers today although I'm sure that they will re-appear as the weather warms up a bit.
Newcomers were 15 Greylags on the water and a single drake Tufted duck at the far north end of the water but soon headed off  >N. Just 4 LBB gulls and a single Herring over >NE but looking beyond the wind turbines around 200 big gulls were soaring very high over the TMR area.
A few Lapwing and Curlew were present whilst Meadow Pipit numbers are slowly growing and a Reed Bunting and Pied Wagtail were in the compound. The small group of Golden Plover are keeping their heads down or moved on with none showing on the Flat Moor or in the Nolstar fields.
A good shout from MC this afternoon reporting a minimum of 158 Black Tailed Godwits in with Redshanks and Curlews at Silsden Ings. Several have also turned up at Nosterfield, Ripon.
Conflicting reports for tomorrow with one forecast showing a bright morning and rain all afternoon and the other showing fine all day. Both agree on a light northerly kicking off at 1 degree.
