                                    Just 2 Curlew present
                                    Good count of 32 Oystercatchers.

                                    Swarms of Starling

                                    Gulls on the water
                                        Several Lapwing

                                    More LBBs than usual.
                                    2 Redshank showing
                                        Shore being exposed

                                    28 Curlew, Long Causeway field.

Another of those icy cold mornings at Leeshaw but not complaining whilst it is dry and clear. A light NNE>3 at 1 degree with 80% cloud and some breaks of sunshine.
The highlight this morning at Leeshaw was a count of 32 Oystercatchers present whilst 2 Redshank were on the newly exposed shore in the SW corner, with shoreline showing along the north bank which invited a few gulls. Around 200 Black Headed and 30 Common gull were on the water and in the nearby fields whilst about 30 Herring and 15 LBB were on the water.
A flock of around 60 Lapwing were very mobile with some Lapwing already sitting in the fields and guarding territory. Starling numbers are growing and probably ready for a move with massive flocks of over 300 birds.
Only 2 Curlew present but on the way home, a quick stop along Long Causeway when I spotted a field full of Curlew opposite TMR. A count revealed 28 but very mobile moving from field to field.
I met BV at Leeshaw, as I was leaving, who reported 5 Whoopers on Lower Laithe reservoir.
A dark and cloudy morning tomorrow on a very light NNE and still down at 1 degree. Chance of rain or snow p.m.
