                                    Only one LBB.
                                Lapwing numbers building.

                                    Red Necked Grebe
                                    Lapwings
Red Necked Grebe. Around since 1st Jan.

A dark cloudy morning with light drizzle showers on an icy cold E>4 at 1 degree.
A very lively morning at Leeshaw with a good count of gulls and geese, both on the water and in the fields, with the Pink Footed goose still in with the Greylags.
Lapwing numbers are building nicely with some birds already claiming territory in the fields whilst others are very lively around the reservoir banking.
The Red Necked Grebe is still present and continuously diving and coming up with small fish, much to the annoyance of the gulls.
Only 2 Fieldfare present with no Redwing this winter in the usually busy Hawthorns, whilst Curlew and Oystercatcher are running late at this site.
Otherwise, down to the usual species.
Lower Laithe had nothing special with just a pair of Goosander as well as the usual gulls with a count of 23 Herring whilst Leeming was about the same with 21 Herring and a single LBB plus the usuals.
Not looking good for tomorrow with a good chance of snow and rain throughout the day on a light ENE with poor visibility.
