Fly Flatts a.m./ Mixenden p.m.

FLY FLATTS        4 Oystercatcher, 1 Ringed Plover

                                    Single Ringed Plover present

                                    Oystercatchers displaying.

                                    Black Headed gulls >SW
MIXENDEN            Several small gulls

                                    1 of 3 Herring gulls.

A foggy start at Fly Flatts giving visibility just across the water before clearing but leaving a very low cloud base. Full cloud cover on a moderate SW>5 at 6 degrees.
Hard work to start with at Fly Flatts, struggling with the fog banks moving through but soon cleared enough to be bird-able.
More Oystercatchers were new in with 4 on the east bank along with a single Ringed Plover but still at distance on the cobbles. Black Headed gulls were heading >SW in 2 small groups keeping below the fog and skimming the water whilst 38 Canadas, 2 Greylag and 12 Mallard were on the water. The Stonechat is still present around the boatyard along with an adult male Pied Wagtail and 2 Meadow Pipits headed > S overhead.
A text midday from DJS reporting an adult Med gull on Mixenden was worth a look for early afternoon but nothing doing there other than 42 Black Headed, 18 Common and 3 Herring gulls as well as a single Cormorant. Possibly the same bird that MC turned up at the Flappit recently.
Not looking good for morning with a capful of rain and a SSW gale to severe gale warning.
