The lull continues. Leeshaw.

                                    Spotted Greylag still around

                                    with a very pale offspring
                                    in to land
                                        around 250 geese present
                                    sev juv LBB gulls.

A cold and windy morning at Leeshaw with a SW>4 at 12 degrees and good visibility.
The area was buzzing with Goldfinch, Linnet, Meadow Pipit and Reed Bunting but otherwise a very poor morning with a single Raven being the only different bird from yesterdays visit.
Plenty Swallows with still a few Sand and House Martin plus the usual Lapwings and 3 Oystercatcher but no sign of Curlew today.
A few LBBs were heading >W very high whilst 10 juvs were present along with a low count of Black Headed.
With yesterdays raptor photos enhanced as much as possible on photoshop the I.D. is still inconclusive with one image looking good for Hobby whilst another looks good for Merlin. I was hoping the bird would re-appear this morning with better views and decent photos but that rarely happens :-

These 2 look good for Hobby

Thanks to NK for his feedback on the subject.
I may just sneak a morning session in tomorrow before the heavens open at midday. A strong SW is also forecast.
