Back at Fly Flatts

                                    1 of 8 Wheatear

                                    All in smart autumn plumage

                                    1 of 3 Common Sandpipers

A pleasant morning at Fly Flatts after thick overnight fog leaving a hazy start but soon burning off to full cloud with clear visibility on a W>3 at 14 degrees.
At least 8 Wheatear were present now in full autumn plumage, all very mobile around the waters edge. Lots of Meadow Pipits today and Swallows over the water but no other small migrants with the trees and bushes remaining empty. No Swifts since 27th July.
The weather is right and the shore is exposed so all I need now is the waders with just 3 Common Sandpipers present, possibly the pair and juv that bred here rather than returners.
Very little wind this morning so very few gulls moving with just 2 LBBs over >NE plus a single Black Headed landing on the water. A single noisy Raven was over the quarry and a good number of Carrion Crows in the top field due to a sheep carcass.
The road diversion was still on today but hopefully will be opened for the weekend.
A similar weather story for tomorrow with sunshine and cloud on a light westerly.
