Right weather, wrong venue, Fly Flatts

Better weather than expected this morning at Fly Flatts with 80 % cloud keeping the sun at bay and a moderate SW>3 at 12 degrees.
A disappointment to find the water level still up to the overflow and drained very little since my last visit with the valve now on a very slow drain.
This venue seems to have died a death this year, not only due to high water but nothing on the water and no movement of small passerines as yet. The passerines are probably due to lack of insects and caterpillars with no Butterflies to be seen.
A single juv Wheatear was present along with 2 Common Sandpipers and 2 Oystercatchers but the only birds in the sky were Mipits, a single Kestrel and 1 LBB gull. By 0830hrs boredom was setting in so an early finish by 0930 hrs. Hopefully by next month things will have improved here if the water drops.
Tomorrows forecast is not looking good with more sun on a light south breeze but Saturday shows better so far with full cloud and light rain.
