juv Wheatear. Bred at this site,

A pleasant morning at Fly Flatts with a light NW>3 at 10 degrees with 80% cloud and some sunshine.
The Wheatear that I have been watching taking food to a breeding site has now produced at least 1 juv which is now flying and feeding independently with the adult birds moved on. A pair of Redshank that bred on the Flat Moor also have a fledged juv as well as 2 pair of Common Sandpipers with 1 fledged young each.
Unfortunately the annual breeding pair of Ringed Plover failed to find an adequate breeding area due to high water levels and have left the site a month earlier than usual.
Having said that, the water level is dropping well now and as long as any long periods of heavy rain don't appear it should be enough to invite a returning wader or two down.
Plenty Swifts in the air and a good pre breeding count of Meadow Pipits but otherwise just down to the usual geese etc plus a few LBB gulls over >SW. No sign of Lapwings or Curlew today.
A contradictory weather forecast for tomorrow with one giving it as a light westerly and rain all day and the other giving it as dry and a moderate WSW so its a wait and see job.
