A bright and breezy morning with good visibility on a W>3 at 9 degrees with 50% cloud and some sunshine. No sign of the forecast thunderstorms. Water in now back to the overflow and no exposed muddy shore.
A non eventful mornings watch with the same Common Sandpipers, Ringed Plovers and Oystercatchers present as well as a remaining few Curlew and Lapwing. The air was full of Swifts, mainly very high and barely visible to the naked eye whilst a few Swallows skimmed the water.
Ravens and Kestrels were over the moor with a Short Eared Owl in the distance whilst a Red Grouse was calling from the Flat Moor, another rare species up there for the last couple of years.
A similar forecast for tomorrow and the rest of the week with the wind sticking from the west and mostly dry. I need a good couple of week dry to get the water level something near presentable for the start of returning waders mid July.
