Unbelievably bad conditions for June at Fly Flatts this morning with torrential rain and drizzle showers blown horizontally from the west on a near gale W>6 gusting 7, at 7 degrees. A short 30 minute period of blue sky and sunshine then back to the black clouds and rain.
Near unworkable conditions for most of the time so very little to report. The highlight being a single Blue Tit in the lagoon tree, a very rare visitor to this site.
Waders were the usual Redshank, Common Sandpipers and Ringed Plovers whilst 15 LBB gulls were battened down on the NW banking.
I had to rescue a Canada gosling that had dropped between two rocks trying to get to the water despite one of the adults hissing and spitting at me. I put it back by the waters edge where it joined the rest of the group. I seem to spend my time, during spring, rescuing goslings and getting lambs and sheep back into the field. Plenty Swifts about this morning, even in these conditions.
Another mixed bag of weather for tomorrow with a continuation of a strong westerly and low temperature.
