7 Oystercatchers present
Around 100 Lapwing
Lapwing and Starling
Single Cormorant
Chopper over the hill at Fly Flatts
Unusual bird for Leeshaw, Long Tailed Tit
Mystery bird, very distant in the sun.
Harrier species.
Using the diversion I arrived at Leeshaw to a glorious morning with full sun on a light S>3 at 1 degree with hazy visibility.
Only a single distant Curlew back so far but 7 Oystercatcher along with at least 100 Lapwing, several already holding territory in the fields.
Very few gulls today with just 4 Herring and about 40 small gulls.
Scanning through bins way over the moor top a large raptor was being mobbed by a Kestrel which I risked getting some quick shots rather than going for the scope. Well out of range and in the sun I did,nt expect the shots to come out at all. The bird looks like a Harrier species to me, probably Hen as the bright colour on the photo is just due to the over exposure due to sun angle.
Otherwise just down to Red Legged Partridge, the usual geese and a stranger to Leeshaw when a Long Tailed Tit appeared as I was talking to BV.
