Black Headed gulls battling the waves
A total of 8 Lt Tits
Delicate little Coal Tit
5 Blackbird present.
Gale force winds to start February off which was no surprise as its an annual event in Queensbury with the worst of the gales always arriving during this month. It always used to be the worst month for heavy snowfalls also.
This morning the wind was blowing at gale force W>8 gusting strong gale >9 at 41 m.p.h. but eased to W>7 by mid pm. The wind was accompanied by a mix of heavy rain and drizzle at a mild 6 degrees.
This morning a very wet and windblown dog walk over Foxhill was as good as it got then mid afternoon I had a quick visit to Ogden to check the water for anything promising but very poor with just 14 Black Headed and 6 Common gulls as well as the usual Mallards.
No time to check the west bank today so had to settle for the birds on the feeders with 5 Blackbirds and 8 Long Tailed Tits plus a single Nuthatch briefly and the usual Tits etc. I dont like taking photos of birds on feeders as I feel like its cheating at bird photography with tame birds, like being at a zoo, or a bird reserve taking pics from a hide, but today I was getting desperate.
Looks like I was following in NKs footsteps today as he has nearly the same photos of me on his blog.
More wind and rain tomorrow but not quite as wild as today.
