LEESHAW First 2 Oystercatchers back at Leeshaw
OGDEN A rare sight at the moment LBB gull.
An icy cold morning at Leeshaw at 1 degree but the moderate SW>5 making it feel much colder in the full cloud.
The first 2 Oystercatchers had arrived back along with 2 Curlew, the latter keeping in a distant field up near the moor. A male Goosander was on the water briefly along with 2 Herring gull and around 100 small gull but still struggling to find a Med.
A group of 37 Lapwing were in the goose field along with 2 Stock Dove and a few Woodpigeons but no sign of the large flock of Greylag today with just 3 present as well as 28 Canadas.
Otherwise, reasonably quiet with the strong, cold wind keeping things down.
A mid afternoon Ogden check had a poor show of gulls with around 50 small and a single LBB whilst the west bank was very quiet with the wind and drizzle blasting through the tree tops.
A Sparrowhawk skimmed through the Alders but unless it did better than me it went away hungry.
Ogden is off the agenda now due to a weeks school holidays although with the stress of parking and the number of dogs running wild I doubt that I,ll miss it very much.
A good report today from my Shelf watch-point PT with Peter finding a Little Egret yesterday by Blackshaw Beck Shelf. A later report saying that the Egret was still present in the afternoon today. Nice find Peter thanks.
