A day of strong winds and heavy drizzle up here in the gods and a very low cloud base. The wind was W>6 inc 7 at a mild 6 degrees and drizzle throughout.
A blustery, wet Leeshaw this morning just provided the usual species with Fieldfare, Cormorant, Mallard etc ,plus the addition of 3 Red Legged Partridge. Gulls were very poor with just a single Herring and around 30 small gulls.
A shopping trip to Keighley checked all the usual gull fields on the way including Cullingworth, Flappit, Thornton etc with hardly a gull in sight.
An hour at a wet and windy Ogden mid afternoon was also bart gulls with about a dozen small gulls on the water. A male Tufted at the north end of the water had me thinking Goldeneye, but not to be. All the usual woodland species showing and the highlight being a Raven and Buzzard battling over the water as they disappeared over the plantation >NW.
I,m on countdown now for the first Oystercatcher and Curlew to the moor, the latter are at the moment showing in fields NW Bradford.
Two more wet and windy days to come and then looking good from Sunday on.
