With fog over Fly Flatts this morning then near gale force winds and heavy horizontal rain this afternoon today was down to a few very wet dog walks and birding put on hold.
With the month end here and wader season as good as over I,ve put together a few specials I,ll be expecting, taken from the last 2 year Octobers. The only waders I,ve ever had at Fly Flatts during October is an odd Dunlin and Ringed Plover plus Jack Snipe so the main species I,ll be concentrating on is winter ducks, geese and swans between Fly Flatts, Mixenden, Ogden and Leeshaw, plus of course gulls around various local sites.
