A nice NW for Fly Flatts(permit only)-- Ogden gull check p.m.

FLY FLATTS                                 Short Eared Owl hovering in the wind

Unfortunately wind in wrong direction for it to face me.

Same waders present   Ringed Plover pair
                                               juv Dunlin

                                                 More Curlews heading >S

                                        Amazing conditions.

Water is usually up to the left hand side of the picture
2 Common Sandpipers re appeared today

OGDEN P.M.                            several Herring gulls

                                            2 Herrings squabbling

Peak month for Yellow Legged but none as yet.

Eclipse drake Tufted in with Mallards

A suitable morning at Fly Flatts with a fresh NW>4 causing white horses across the water with clear skies and sunshine at 12 degrees but cool in the wind. Visibility good apart from the heat distortion.
On arrival a SEO was hovering over the fields but facing into the wind before dropping down to disappear into the valley.
Just 6 waders present, these being the usuals reluctant to move on as yet whilst the sky was lively with Curlews on the move as well as Swifts which have been absent the last few days.
Still only 2 Wheatears present as well as 5 LBB gulls on the water and a Kestrel over the Flat Moor, a very scarce species this year.
Time to start checking the gulls so a trip to Ogden mid afternoon where they are starting to build up nicely with several LBB and Black Headed along with 18 Herring but no Yellow Legged as yet though we are now into the prime time for this species, so nothing special but good to get my gull head back on.
