Warblers and Wheatears.

OGDEN                                2nd cycle Lesser Black Backed gull
                                                    Still showing black tail feathers
                                                    and pink legs.

Awash with Chiffchaffs around the waterside trees.

FLY FLATTS                           7 Wheatear present just in one small area

Female Ringed Plover, also 2 males present
                                            3 Pied Wagtails, 2f 1m

Another morning of thick fog on the tops so another visit to Ogden below the cloud base with a SW>3 turning SW>4 and full cloud at 6 degrees.
Once again the trees were alive with Chiffchaffs whilst 3 singing Willow Warblers were very elusive among the new leaves and Coal Tits were again plentiful.
The shoreline and water was disappointing with just the 2 Gt Crested Grebe, 2 adult LBB gulls plus a 2nd cycle LBB gull. Goldfinch and Bullfinch were in the car park trees but otherwise it was just the normal species.
By 0945 hrs the ice cream van rolled in along with a constant stream of cars so it was time to make a quick exit.
Mid afternoon and the fog just cleared from Fly Flatts leaving it breezy with the W>4 but quite mild.
Another good count of Wheatear with 7 counted in one small area along with 2f and 1m Pied Wagtail and several Mipits .Wader wise, just 2m and 1f Ringed Plover as well as a single Oystercatcher whilst the water held a pair of Tufted duck, new in.
Gulls were the highlight of the watch with 52 Herring and 8 LBB gulls >SW , these being mostly sub adults. Golden Plover were calling from Fill Belly Flat in with the Curlews and Lapwings.
