Ogden/Doe Park.

OGDEN                                 The 2 Oystercatchers have returned.

2 of 4  LBBs on the water
                                           only 1 Gt Crested Grebe

DOE PARK                        1 of 2 Grey Wagtails in the rain
1 of 2 Oystercatchers on a jetty full of Canada poo.

A terrible day throughout with once again thick fog on the tops with a strong W>5 and heavy drizzle and rain for the morning and afternoon session but mild at 7 degrees.
Ogden was slightly sheltered from the wind but very wet and muddy around the circumference track. Surprisingly the pair of Oystercatchers were back in their usual position after being absent a few days whilst only 1 of the Gt Crested Grebe was present.
What looked like the same 2 LBBs from yesterday were back on the water as well as 2 sub adults and a 2nd cycle Herring gull. A small group of 6 Chaffinch were dropping onto the banking for their favourite weed now that the water is down but otherwise a duplicate of yesterdays visit.
With plenty shore now showing I thought I might have had a returning Common Sandpiper with this species being due any day now.
Mid afternoon and a check of Doe Park, again thinking of Common Sandpiper and also Sand Martin which should be in the area by now.
A single Gt Crested Grebe was on the water, which was possibly the missing bird from Ogden this morning being in full summer adult breeding plumage.
Just the resident Canada geese and Mallards otherwise on the water whilst 2 Oystercatchers dropped in from the east settling on the boat jetty.  The sky just produced 2 Herring gull >N plus the usual corvids etc.
More rain and moderate westerlies forecast for tomorrow, hopefully without the fog this time.
The boats are out tomorrow evening so I,m on jetty duty at some point during the day. Maybe a Common Sand will be waiting up there for me.
