Ogden in the drizzle/ Fly Flatts in a gale.(permit only)

OGDEN                                    2 stonking Lesser Black Backed gulls

                                            LBB and Herring
                                                3 cy Herring
                                     3cy LBB                     3cy Herring          2cy LBB
2 Gt Crested Grebe catching frogs and small fish

                                                           7 LBBs present.
FLY FLATTS                    Rough water in a W>7 near gale at 34 mph.

Single Canada out on the peninsular
                                               Canada struggling in the swell
Hoping for Kittiwake but just LBBs over.
                                           All low skimming the water.

Thick fog on the tops this morning despite the strong W>7 with heavy drizzle but mild at 7 degrees.
Ogden early morn was sheltered from the wind but drizzle throughout, but at least it kept the public away.
The 2 Gt Crested Grebe were back on the water at the north end catching fish and frogs every dive. LBB gulls are showing more now, after a couple of months of hardly any, with 7 on the water along with 4 Herring but no small gulls. Just 2 of the LBBs were full adults whilst the others were 3cy, still having some slight brown marking on tertials and coverts, and the others were 2cy.
Gt Spotted Woodpeckers were still hammering the trees and a single Jay flew over but otherwise , no warblers, and just the usual resident woodland species.
Mid afternoon was ideal Kittiwake conditions with the westerly wind blasting across the water along with horizontal drizzle. No Kittiwake but a steady flow of LBBs skimming the water and heading off >SW which were the only birds seen other than the usual Crows, Canadas and Mallards with everything else keeping their heads down.
The forecast looks the same for tomorrow so hopefully, when the wind eventually drops we,ll have some waders in.
