Fly Flatts / Ogden and another days soaking.

FLY FLATTS                                     3m 1f Ringed Plovers present

                                                   Always Curlews over

OGDEN                       10 Herring and 4 LBBs present.

1 of 2 Gt Crested Grebe still catching well

Heron not doing as well but getting frogs.

Another wet and windy day with some very heavy hail showers in the afternoon. A strong W>4 with sunshine and showers at 5 degrees.
Once again at Fly Flatts things were keeping their head down in the moderate wind which tried to take my legs from under me when walking the west bank.
Still no sign of Common Sandpiper but 4 Ringed Plover present along with 5 Redshank
and the Golden Plovers showing briefly in the shelter of the Flat Moor.
A couple of Raven over plus a pair of Pied Wagtails then just down to the usual species.
Another circuit of Ogden mid afternoon with the 2 Oystercatchers still present on the overflow plus a Curlew briefly on the north shore before heading off towards the wind farm when a particularly heavy hail storm came out of the blue.
Both Gt Crested Grebe were back on the water catching well whilst a Heron on the NW shore seemed to settle for frogs.
A good show of gulls on the water with 10 Herring and 4 LBBs all of which were adults apart from 2 2nd cycle Herrings, strange how the BHGs have just disappeared.
Tomorrows forecast of snow seems to be cancelled leaving another day of rain with a very strong westerly.
