Back to Fly Flatts and TMR, (permit and membership required)

FLY FLATTS                           Just 5 Golden Plover present at Fly Flatts

                                             Northern race, male, (altifrons)

All taken against sun angle, hence shadowed.

TMR                                    3rd cycle Herring gull

1st winter going into 2nd cycle Herring

                                               2nd cycle Herring

A clear but icy cold W>3 at 1 degree at Fly Flatts early morn with broken cloud and sunshine.
A disappointing morning with no sky movement other than 8 separate LBB gulls coming up the Calder valley heading >NE whilst waders just comprised of 4 Redshank and the usual 2 Ringed Plover even though there are good amounts of shore showing now which should attract a good amount of waders this and next month.
The highlight of the morning was once again Golden Plover with just 5 birds showing all in immaculate plumage, otherwise down to the usual species.
Good to see the buoys out on the water now with the boats sailing this afternoon for the first time this season putting me back on Canada goose poo disposal from the floating jetty throughout the season.
The mid afternoon visit to TMR was near a duplicate of yesterdays visit plus 4 Grey Partridge in with the Red Legged plus a Grey and Pied Wagtail and a single Snipe.
Redshank, Oystercatchers and 1 female Goldeneye present with 37 Herring and 71 LBB but no small gulls again.
Moderate westerly and rain forecast for tomorrow.
