Fly Flatts a.m. (permit only)/ Mixenden p.m.

Mixenden Reservoir         The centre 1st winter Black Headed had a yellow ring.
LH 1st winter but in grass and too far to read
                                             2nd winter Herring gull

                                         Unfortunately very pink legs

Decent visibility at Fly Flatts this morning but very dark clouds and light drizzle on a W>3 at 6 degrees.
Birds were none existent this morning with just a Kestrel, 2 Crows and a few Red Grouse saving me from having a complete dip.
A near miss with Whooper Swans when MP reported 11 >SE over Doe Park this morning so must have passed me on the other side of the ridge.
Very little time mid afternoon so went down to Mixenden reservoir to check out NKs possible Yellow Legged Herring gull which had unfortunately left when I arrived leaving just
1 2nd winter Herring, 1 adult LBB and around 60 small gulls.
A 1st winter Black Headed had a yellow ring on its left leg but was stood on the grass bank hiding the code plus they soon headed for the water. The yellow ring probably puts it as a York landfill site bird or the Netherlands.  Thanks to NK for the call.
