Somebody turn down the thermostat !! Leeshaw/Fly Flatts.

LEESHAW                                Only 2 LBB gulls present among the geese
                                                  Ever watchful Heron

                                     Dipper taking food upstream.
                                              Grey Wagtail
                                        Chaffinch gathering caterpillars

FLY FLATTS                      Barnacle in the compound
                                            1 of 6 Common Sandpiper
                                                 Ringed Plover

                                           Big yellow bird >W

Terrible conditions today with blue skies, wall to wall sunshine getting up to 21 degrees on a very light >NE. A bit of hope with rain forecast for tomorrow on a light >SE.
Over to Leeshaw this morning to check out the gull situation but disappointingly only 2 LBBs at the reservoir although 43 LBBs were in the hot spot field below the Dog and Gun.
Plenty shoreline along the north bank but very distant even through the scope and worse with the heat shimmer. A single Ringed Plover was on the mud along with 2 Snipe probing the waters edge whilst 4 Oystercatchers were skimming over the water.
A flock of around 80 Lapwing were mobile looking as is all the young have fledged whilst Curlews seem to be down to the last 2 now.
Down in the beck 2 Grey Wagtails were on the steel structure and a Dipper flew upstream carrying food proving breeding once again for this species.
The usual Greylags and Canadas were on and around the water as well as Mallard with Cormorants and Herons around the edges.  The area was alive with Swallows and House Martins.
Late afternoon at a very warm and sticky Fly Flatts was again poor with just Ringed Plover and Common Sandpiper as well as the usual sp.
Now to try sort my blog header which the blogger has once again moved the goalposts with a new system that doesnt work!! Apparently this has been altered to suit mobile phones.
