FLY FLATTS 1 of 2 Dunlin
Ringed Plover, male
Ringed Plover ,female
Herons appear on the moor for frog season.
SOIL HILL Willow Warbler.
Too hot to handle today starting at 7 degrees early morn and getting up to 16 degrees p.m.
A very light SE>2 didnt help the situation and lots of heat shimmer about making photography difficult.
Not good conditions for reservoir watching by any means though, having said that, 2 Dunlins dropped into Fly Flatts overnight and had settled with the Ringed Plovers on very limited shoreline. Also, wader wise, 1 Common Sandpiper and 2 Oystercatchers were present.
Plenty scavengers arriving now with 5 LBB gulls and 2 Herrings on the water whilst a single Heron dropped onto the moor near to the lagoon. Its amazing how Herons know when its frog season as this is a species I rarely get through the year at this site.
The mid afternoon session was just an hour up Soil Hill which did,nt amount to much in the very still heat. No signs of yesterdays Ring Ouzels with a single Willow Warbler being the only bird of note other than 5 Stock Doves and the usual species.
