FLY FLATTS 1 pr Ringed Plover present.

Bit of courtship going on
1 pr Tufted and a single Black Headed gull.
2 Moorhen on the water
Another day of disagreeable weather with clear blue skies and sunshine on a light E>2 turning SE>3 at 2 degrees rising to 12 mid afternoon.
Once again the weather killed the job at Fly Flatts with near empty skies and very little of note. A single Swallow headed >N whilst a Raven and Merlin wrangled at distance over the moor. The original pair of Ringed Plovers were still present along with 2 Red Legged Partridge whilst 3 LBB gulls were on the water.
The Golden Plover flock had returned to the Nolstar field as I passed on my way home late morning.
A check of Mixenden reservoir late afternoon produced the least expected bird when a Green Sandpiper flushed from under the west back rising very high and away >N. As I caught it out of my eye corner I expected Wheatear with the bright white rump but then got a shock to see a Green Sandpiper , a bird I only usually manage on return.
With the good run continuing , 2 Gt Crested Grebe were on the water, briefly displaying, along with a pair of Tufted and just the one Black Headed gull.
Several Long Tailed Tits were in the waterside trees on the west bank along with Chaffinch but no Warblers. Luckily my afternoon choice of Mixenden saved the day.
