Once again alive with Common Sandpiper.
as well as, the now resident, Ringed Plover.
21 Golden Plover at Nolstar.
A strange wind programme at Fly Flatts today with a light W>3 early morn turning NW>4 followed by N>3 , NE>3 and finally E>3 by late afternoon. Light rain this morning but then holding off until 1700 hrs when torrential showers started. Temp was 4 degrees with good visibility.
Waders were nice and lively in the cool wind with Common Sandpipers continuously skimming low over the water from bank to bank whilst the grey skies saw Swallows moving through >SE low below the Nab.
A Sparrowhawk was soon seen off by Lapwings and 2 newcomers were a pair of Tufted duck on the water. Other waders were Ringed Plover, Redshank and Oystercatchers whilst gull wise, just 3 LBBs, 5 Herring >NE and the unusual sighting here of a single Black Headed gull on the NE bank.
On the way home late afternoon a check of Nolstar found 21 Golden Plover but in 1 field lower down than usual. Still waiting for the Dotterel.
