Thought I had an Osprey from a distance. Heron
1st Willow Warbler, 1 of 2
2 Buzzards over the garden very high >NE
A distinctive bird with missing wing and tail feathers.
Another day of too much sun, too much blue sky and too high a temperature with too little wind, SW>2 then W>3, apart from that conditions were good!!
Yesterdays Snipe count proved to be an overnight arrival with no birds present today at either of yesterdays sites. Low Lane to Pit Lane was poor due to road repairs so I was unable to hang around in the area.
Raggalds Flood had the usual 2 Redshank plus 2m and 1f Pied Wagtail with no Snipe present but the Oystercatcher was still around the area in a distant field.
Due to the Dailie Fields now being out of commission the rest of the watch was from the Roper Lane watch point where 2 Willow Warblers were singing in the plantation but very elusive whilst 3 Linnet were in the gorse and 5 Mipits were in the field.
From the watch point looking west a steady flow of LBB gulls headed >N through the Causeway Foot Col whilst an odd sighting was a Great Spotted Woodpecker which flew directly over JLs house in Bradshaw, I hope he was on garden watch at the time.
Mid afternoon 2 Buzzards flew over the garden mega high but standing out in the blue background heading >NE, a rare sighting for here. One of the birds stood out having tail and wing feathers missing if it shows up around the area as a local.
