Common Scoter movement

With a massive movement east of Common Scoters over the last few nights and plenty recordings by the nocturnal flight brigade I,ve put together a few images of locals from Fly Flatts and Mixenden reservoir from previous years. Unfortunately our reservoirs can,t be checked due to lock down but personally the earliest I,ve ever had Common Scoter locally is 4th June on Fly Flatts and the latest 16th November on Mixenden. All my main Scoter sightings have been June to September.

Out and about today.                  Distant Buzzard

Very hard going today with periods of sunshine amidst grey skies and near gale force winds W>6
peaking NW>7  by late afternoon.
A walk along the top of Shibden Head, Roper Lane, Oats Royd top and ending up down the Dailie Fields found very little in the strong wind with passerines keeping their heads down skulking in the undergrowth. A very distant Buzzard was best of the bunch perched in a tree sheltered from the wind.
Plenty Linnets and Meadow Pipits about now but no warblers as yet. With a warm blast coming on Sunday we should be seeing a few warblers and maybe a Swallow or two.
With an event less blog today I,ve put the above Common Scoter article in keeping with the massive movement heading east picked up over several areas with Spurn inundated with them. No chance of checking the local reservoirs whilst the restrictions are on and ironically I only had the 1 female last year at Fly Flatts in June and 1 male there in September.
