Another gropper for Queensbury.

    Oats Royd                         Chiffchaff

                                     1 of many Chaffinch
Blind Lane Qby                                     1 of 5 Swallow.

Soil Hill Grasshopper Warbler from May 2014.

Cloudier skies today after overnight fog but still plenty sunshine on a light NE>3.
A good start to the walk with a Grasshopper Warbler reeling from brambles at Oats Royd and showing briefly as it appeared in the open for a matter of seconds before dropping back down and remaining silent. Although I hung around a while, camera at the ready it never re appeared.
A pair of Bullfinch and a Mistle Thrush were new for me down there this year then it was back to the usual Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers.
On the way back a bit of sky watching from Blind Lane looking east found 5 Swallows moving steadily >N as well as Buzzards and Mipits. Otherwise quiet in the hazy sky but nice to get out in the open away from the trees at Oats Royd. This woodland birding is just not for me hearing lots of bird song but not a bird in sight apart from a few quick flashes as something darts from one tree to another. Let me get back on the tops with tons of open moor and open sky.
