The waders return. Fly Flatts.

Another batch of waders through. 9 Dunlin

Very pale birds, juvs or non breeders

                                    Coming in to autumn plumage.
The one on the left looked like a Sanderling from a distance.

1500 hrs at Fly Flatts with 30 % cloud cover and sunshine though the sun was high in the sky so didnt present too many problems in the cool W>4 and today I stayed dry.
A group of Dunlin were new in with 5 on the east back in the back ponds and 4 way out on the shoreline on the south shore. First look through the bins made me think there was a Sanderling in with them so a panic to get the camera up on sticks but a scope scan showed 1 extremely pale, ( left on above photo ) whilst all the other birds were pale plumaged being juvs or non breeders going into autumn plumage.
The birds were busy feeding throughout getting ready for the next leg of their journey.
Up to 6 Wheatear were present but all Northerns with no sign of yesterdays Greenland, whilst it was good to see the young Tufted making their first flights over the water and landing rather clumsily.
Gulls were starting to build again with 5 LBBs and 9 BHGs but still no Terns through.
Tomorrows weather looks interesting with rain forecast throughout on a light south turning south east wind , well it is Bank Holiday, luckily rain doesnt bother waders and sea birds so it may be a good day if you dont mind a dousing .
