Fly Flatts, a quiet visit with a reet good soaking..

                                        4 LBB gulls present

                                                    5 Teal showing

Late afternoon at Fly Flatts had nothing to get the taste buds going today and a good soaking did,nt help.
On arrival the sky was very dark throwing everything into silhouette which made scanning difficult not helped by a moderate W>4 coming across the moor. As I got to the NW corner the heavens opened with rain coming down in stair rods for about 15 minutes and long enough to soak me to the skin but then the clouds broke up leaving 70 % cloud cover and good conditions so by the time I,d got back to the car I,d been blow dried.
Unbelievable to see so much mud to 3 sides of the water and not a wader to be found other than Lapwing even after an extensive search through the scope. The only birds around the shoreline were 5 Teal, 4 LBB gulls and 17 BHGs as well as around 10 Lapwing.
Just a single Wheatear on Robin Rock whilst 4 Kestrel were up above the west bank. Otherwise it was down to the usual species. Ruff and Godwit are now on the move so hopefully we,ll be getting a visit.
