2nd wave of Wheatear through
All adults
Invasion of Teal with 14 counted.
12 LBB gulls present
Teal
2 Dunlin at distance
The odd plumaged bird.
Yet more 21 deg heat shimmer.
1500 hrs at Fly Flatts with 80 % cloud cover on a moderate SW>4 but, at 21 degrees, heat shiver spoilt viewing and photos.
A second wave of Wheatear had arrived overnight with a count of 9 all very mobile around the Robin Rock, again all adults in autumn plumage.
Teal were the bird of the day with 14 present, a good count for this location, whilst the 2 Dunlin were still present, one being the strange plumaged bird. Both these species were also seen earlier in the day by DJS and AC.
A dozen LBB gulls and several BHGs were present as well as the 2 Barnacles and the 2 Tufted families which are now very near to being fully grown and flying.
The remains of a Lapwing on the shoreline looked like a Peregrine strike but the only raptors seen today were 2 Kestrels.
We now await the next wave of waders.
